Community Distributions

What sets Lotus House apart is our holistic, comprehensive approach to care. Beyond meeting immediate needs such as food and shelter for our guests, we launched a community distribution program in front of our facility back in 2018 in response to the growing needs of those outside our shelter. We expanded this effort into regular monthly events that bring life-changing food, hygiene, and health resources directly to our neighbors in Overtown. These events help bridge critical gaps in access and include: 

• Prepared meals and groceries
• Hygiene and feminine care supplies
• Health screenings (including vaccinations, vision, dental, ultrasounds, wellness exams, and more)
• Health education on topics such as mental health, cancer prevention, HPV, STI awareness, and more
• Toys, school supplies, and additional essential resources

Each month, we invite organizations and individual volunteers to participate in our community distribution by either hosting a resource table or providing general event support. You can sign up after you create an account on our volunteer portal, POINT (head to Volunteering under our Get Involved tab).
